Raise the Bar

How to combat media censorship

What is the Raise the Bar about?

Photos by Nicole Franzen

The Raise the Bar campaign is meant to bring awareness to the public on how to fight media censorship through citizen journalism.

Citizen journalism thrives on the basis of public citizens actively collecting, reporting analyzing and disseminating news and information. It serves as an alternate form of reporting that functions in a way that’s different than mainstream, traditional media institutions. It’s often seen as a response to shortcomings in professional journalism, but is based on a separate form of ideals. It relies on alternate sources of legitimacy than traditional journalism.

Pacific Tavern's interior, designed by the award-winning Hayden Collective, reflects the hip sensibilities of the surrounding area while also paying tribute to Brooklyn's storied past. The multi-level restaurant offers the choice to observe passers-by in the glass-encased Cascade Bar on the 2nd floor, or watch the art of cooking as it occurs in the open-kitchen dining room.
